Lecture - June 30, 2016
It was my pleasure to participate in the Opening Ceremony on behalf of the Virginia Czech Slovak Heritage Society and to take this opportunity to thank those who were instrumental in making the opening of the Czech Slovak Gallery at the Prince George County Regional Heritage Center a reality. Initial planning of this museum began in 2005 with Joyce Pritchard, Carol Bowman, and me first discussing the possibility of using the old "clerk's office" at the courthouse complex as a possible ethnic Czech and Slovak Museum. Dreams (and hard work from a lot of others) do come true.
Al Elko had played the accordion ever since he was a child. He played at dances, church and family gatherings. He was a master of the old Folk Songs and entertained friends and family with his expert knowledge of treasured music and songs.
